Old Fashoned Mission Fest, the First event for our 125th Year Anniversary Celebration
Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things!
(Psalm 98:1, ESV)
Indeed He has! This verse is the theme verse as St. John’s Lutheran Church, Howard, SD celebrates 125 years of God’s work to the Howard community through our congregation. We cordially invite you to participate in the activities that we are planning.
Our first event will be March 18th. Rev. Tom Baker will be our guest for an Old Fashioned Mission Fest. Pastor Baker is the Director of Development for Concordia Mission Society, St. Louis, MO. The society supports missionaries in Kazahkstan and Kyrgyzia and is affiliated with the publication of “Good News” Magazine. Prior to serving at Concordia Mission Society, Pastor Baker served as Parish Pastor for 28 years at St. James Lutheran Church (LC-MS), University City, MO. For the last 9 years he has also hosted a radio program on the Synod’s AM radio station (KFUO) called “Law and Gospel.” Pastor Baker will preach in the morning worship service (9:30am). He will lead Family Bible Class (10:30am) discussing the work of Concordia Mission Society. An old fashioned “pot luck” dinner will be served at noon. After lunch Pastor Baker will continue with a seminar on his favorite topic, Law and Gospel. Finally, in the evening he has offered to meet with area pastors to continue the Law / Gospel discussion on a deeper level. We are looking forward to this exciting event and hope you will be able to increase our joy by attending as our guest.
