Life Quote: “Real life is only possible in this world if we know and believe in a real presence, the real, bodily presence of Christ, sent by the Father into our world to reach out His hand—the hand of God—to heal those who are broken by sin—to hold a little child and bless it—to stretch it out on a cross to receive a nail for our redemption.” Rev. Dr. Arthur A. Just, Jr., Professor of Exegetical Theology, Dean of the Chapel, and Director of Deaconess Studies at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE
Stewardship in Romans 11:33-12:8: St. Paul ended today’s Epistle reading by encouraging us to use our gifts (serving, teaching, encouraging, contributing, leadership and mercy) in a very deliberate and intentional way. We show that our faith is alive by our sacrificial deeds of kindness to the glory of God and the welfare of our fellow human beings.

Life Quote for Today: “Jesus’ compassionate touch and protective hands are for all people, regardless of size and importance in this world. In fact, He is especially compassionate and protective of those who are on the bottom of the social ladder—children, lepers, tax collectors, prostitutes, and sinners. He welcomes the helpless, the hurting, those most likely to be trampled, and those who can bring Him nothing in return. No one is too small or insignificant to be blessed by Jesus’ hands.” Rev. Dr. Glenn A. Nielsen, Professor, Director of Vicarage, Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE
Stewardship: Romans 11:1-2, 13-15, 28-32: Because of God’s mercy we, like St. Paul, are made new as God’s children. As God’s children we are redeemed to be his disciples, his stewards, who do the right things for the right reasons, whether it is in giving, encouraging and helping. These are marks of God’s stewards.

Quote for Life: “Christ chose death over life, and then, in reversing the curse, brought life and immortality to life through His resurrection. Christ’s mercy extends from His suffering cross into our suffering homes and hospitals, where He gives life because He chose death for us.” Rev. Dr. Arthur A. Just, Jr., Professor of Exegetical Theology, Dean of the Chapel, and Director of Deaconess Studies at Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE
Stewardship in Romans 10:5-17: In Romans 10 Paul strongly makes the point that we can never gain salvation by our good works. Our salvation is a gift from God who loved us so much that He gave His only-begotten Son for our salvation. Therefore, the good works of stewardship that we do are done not to be saved, but as our fitting response to being saved by God’s grace.

Life Quote: “This Church, under the Gospel and for the sake of the Gospel, has the duty to spare, to the best of its abilities, the lives of all people . . . To the extent, then, that the Church wittingly falls prey to policies that support the “black genocide [abortion],” we act contrary to nature of the communion into which we have been drawn and we bar—albeit unwittingly—from the means of grace those whom God would save. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy upon us, poor sinners!” Rev. Everette E. Greene, pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Cincinnati, Ohio. A Life Quote from Lutherans For Life / www.lutheransforlife.org / 888-364-LIFE
Stewardship in Romans 9:1-13: St. Paul was saddened by the unbelief of the Jews who had every advantage as the chosen people of God. It is very difficult to see people we know and love who do not believe in Christ. That encourages us to use our time and money to support the mission of our church to reach the spiritually lost in our families, our communities and throughout the world.

Pastor Watt's sermons are now being broadcast on Pirate Christian Radio. Stay tuned for scheduling information.
Also the quality of the broadcast has been greatly improved thanks to suggestions by Craig Donofrio at PCR. It was simple and cheap and the results are fantastic! If you need a good inexpensive microphone check at Musicians Friend. (this one).
Now we use this mic and a free software program called Audacity with noticeable results. We took the opportunity to change the format by adding an intro and trailer and some background music and a new title for the program.
The title "Streams of Living Water" comes from the idea expressed in Psalm 1.
Psalm 1 (ESV)
1 Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
3 He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
4 The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.
The Christian is truly blessed as he/she comes into contact with God's Word, but the Psalm really is an accusation of our sinfulness and the blessed nature of our Savior.
The psalm is a nice description of Christ. The description of the Blessed Man is His alone. We are deserving of punishment. We are the chaff blown in the wind. We are unfaithful in our diligent use of God's Word. We can't even stand to be in worship more than an hour. Not so our Savior Jesus. All the psalm says is true for Him. Jesus is the tree planted by the streams of water. All the He does prospers. He follows God, the Father's, will for his life. Even when that includes suffering the punishment the wicked deserve. Jesus stands innocent in judgement and yet He falls with the punishment meant for the wicked. He perishes in our place. In that knowledge we too are blessed by God's Word.
As far as the new program goes I think it sounds great. Listen here.
Any comments or questions are greatly appreciated! You may comment here on the webpage or send your comments to streams@StJohnsHoward.org.

God’s Word about Our Stewardship: Romans 8:28-39: St. Paul concludes this beautiful chapter of Romans with the overwhelming confidence that God loves us and is on our side. He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up for us all, will also along with Him graciously give us all good things. With joy, then, we can use the blessings of life, time, money and skills in new and God-pleasing ways.

Thank You Pastor Uecker! Pastor Uecker from Our Savior, Madison, leads us in worship this morning.
Stewardship in Romans 7:14-25: St. Paul describes the conflict we Christians face each day of our lives. What we want to do we do not do, and what we hate we do. This sinful reality makes our lives as stewards more challenging but, thanks to Jesus, we have the victory over sin and the power of the Holy Spirit to help us do that which is pleasing to God and good for others as well as ourselves.
